Lorsque vient le temps d’expliquer pourquoi certaines personnes semblent plus heureuses que d’autres, ce n’est pas toujours blanc ou noir. Certaines vont justifier leur malheur par des événements ou des circonstances hors de leur contrôle qui viennent contaminer ou affecter leur joie et leur humeur.
Ce n’est pas faux. Il peut arriver des situations dans nos vies que nous n’avions pas prévues et qui sont complètement hors de notre contrôle. Cependant, nous pouvons totalement déterminer et influencer notre bonheur par les choix que nous prenons chaque jour. Les bons amènent la joie et la bénédiction. Les mauvais peuvent complètement saboter la qualité de notre vie.
Comme Jésus était en chemin avec ses disciples, il entra dans un village, et une femme, nommée Marthe, le reçut dans sa maison.
Elle avait une sœur, nommée Marie, qui, s’étant assise aux pieds du Seigneur, écoutait sa parole. Marthe, occupée à divers soins domestiques, survint et dit : Seigneur, cela ne te fait-il rien que ma sœur me laisse seule pour servir ? Dis-lui donc de m’aider.
Le Seigneur lui répondit : Marthe, Marthe, tu t’inquiètes et tu t’agites pour beaucoup de choses. Une seule chose est nécessaire. Marie a choisi la bonne part, qui ne lui sera point ôtée.

Imagine que Jésus est de passage et s’arrête chez toi. Comment est-il possible d’avoir Jésus chez soi et d’être en « mode plainte et frustration » ?
Il est évident que Marthe semble de mauvaise humeur, même si Jésus est présent chez elle. Ses inquiétudes et ses agitations comme le mentionne Jésus dans le passage ci-dessus sont directement liées à un choix qu’elle fait. C’est évidemment un mauvais choix.
Marie, au contraire, est heureuse, car elle a choisi de profiter d’une occasion exceptionnelle d’avoir Jésus à la maison pour s’asseoir à Ses pieds et boire Ses paroles tout en vivant un moment extraordinaire qui sera certainement inoubliable. Elle s’est assurément dit : « les tâches ménagères peuvent attendre, je ne peux pas manquer une telle occasion ! Je choisis d’être avec Jésus. »
Marthe, de son côté, est tellement focalisée sur son désir de perfection, qu’elle fait le mauvais choix. Elle néglige la présence de Jésus pour faire quelque chose pensant Lui plaire, quelque chose qu’Il ne désire pas vraiment à ce moment précis. Son mauvais choix provoque sa propre exaspération et même de la jalousie envers Marie. Elle est en train de gâcher un moment de bonheur gratuit et unique simplement à cause d’un mauvais choix spontané.

C’est pareil pour toi et moi chaque jour de notre vie. Nos choix, aussi nombreux soient-ils, influencent directement la qualité de notre bonheur. Lorsque tu décides, par une soudaine matinée ensoleillée, de reporter la lessive et le repassage prévus pour prendre une heure afin d’aller jouer au parc avec tes enfants, c’est un choix. Assis sur un banc à boire une tasse de thé, tu les regardes jouer et s’amuser. Un sentiment profond de bonheur s’empare de toi en pensant au privilège de vivre un tel moment. Ce n’est pas un hasard si tu as vécu cet instant, c’est un choix.
Quand tu éteins la télévision pour mettre une musique de fond inspirante au lieu de regarder les infos et les mauvaises nouvelles et que tu t’assois sur ton canapé en lisant un passage biblique extraordinaire qui réconforte ton âme : ce n’est pas le fruit du hasard, c’est le choix que tu fais.
Un autre exemple : lorsque tu es au centre commercial, que l’impulsion te pousse à acheter avec ta carte de crédit qui a déjà été utilisée pour tellement d’achats (sans aucun besoin) et que plus tard, tu n’en dors pas la nuit à cause de tes dettes et tes soucis financiers, une fois de plus, ce n’est pas le hasard, ce sont tes choix.

Chaque jour de notre vie nous faisons des choix et plusieurs d’entre eux influencent positivement ou négativement notre bonheur. Pourquoi ne pas faire comme Marie à partir de maintenant ? Je t’encourage aujourd’hui à choisir la bonne part. Avant chaque choix à faire, interroge-toi à savoir si celui-ci affecte ou nuit à ton bonheur. Je peux t’assurer que si tu augmentes de façon importante les choix qui conduisent au contentement, ta vie passera indubitablement dans une dimension meilleure.
