Il ne voulut pas retirer l’arche de l’Éternel chez lui dans la cité de David, et il la fit conduire dans la maison d’Obed Édom de Gath. L’arche de l’Éternel resta trois mois dans la maison d’Obed Édom de Gath, et l’Éternel bénit Obed Édom et toute sa maison.
2 Samuel 6 : 10-11
Imagine qu’un spécialiste financier vienne te voir avec un placement tellement rentable que d’y investir pendant 3 mois assure la prospérité de toute ta famille pour le reste de ta vie.
C’est un peu ce qu’a vécu Obed Edom, ce personnage dont on entend très peu parler dans les Écritures. C’est un lévite et serviteur de Dieu qui a œuvré sans le statut de célébrité ou de personnalité très connue.
Une catastrophe venait d’arriver. Lors de sa prise de fonction en tant que Roi, David réquisitionnait l’Arche de l’alliance, symbole terrestre de la présence de Dieu, emblème de l’alliance divine et Son peuple. Cette arche avait été abandonnée sous le règne de Saul. Dieu avait clairement spécifié que seuls les lévites étaient autorisés à la toucher.
Lors du transport vers Jérusalem, l’arche était sur le point de tomber et un dénommé Uzza voulait l’attraper pour lui éviter de tomber et il est mort sur-le-champ. David décidait un peu dans le désarroi de retarder l’arrivée de l’Arche à Jérusalem et de l’entreposer chez un lévite du nom de Obed Edom.
Ce dernier ne faisait rien de spectaculaire, n’avait pas écrit le dernier tube du top10 de la louange de l’époque. Il avait bien humblement accueilli dans sa maison l’Arche de Dieu. En d’autres mots, il avait fait de l’espace dans sa vie pour la présence de Dieu.
Lorsque nous ouvrons la porte de notre vie à la présence de Dieu, que nous invitons l’arche spirituelle dans notre environnement, une bénédiction spéciale prend alors place.
Il est important de comprendre qu’à ce moment précis, l’arche n’est pas la pièce de collection la plus convoitée à mettre dans la maison. Un homme vient de mourir en la touchant maladroitement. La peur et l’incompréhension sont présentes. Même David, le roi avec toute sa passion, la refuse pour un temps.
Obed Edom, lui, a ouvert sa vie en quelque sorte à Dieu, à Sa présence au sein de sa maison. Il est impressionnant de constater qu’à partir de ce jour, le Ciel a été ouvert sur lui et sur les siens : une bénédiction permanente.
Lorsque nous ouvrons la porte de notre vie à la présence de Dieu, que nous invitons l’arche spirituelle dans notre environnement, une bénédiction spéciale prend alors place.
Je crois que la clé de la bénédiction dans nos affaires, ministères, entreprises, projets ou maisons, c’est l’Arche de Dieu.
Bâtissons nos vies sur Sa présence. Plaçons Dieu en priorité et à la fondation de tout ce que nous faisons. Par conséquent, le Ciel s’ouvrira et son abondance se répandra sur nous. Obed Edom a vu sa vie être exponentialisée littéralement grâce à la présence de Dieu.
