LES EXPONENTIALISTES DE LA BIBLE - DEMAIN SERA MEILLEUR (Ruth)

Certains commencent dans la vie avec des avantages. Par exemple, si tu es originaire d’une famille riche et célèbre de Beverly Hills, ça ne signifie pas que ta vie sera facile, mais tu démarres avec une longueur d’avance sur celui ou celle qui nait au sein d’une famille pauvre ou dysfonctionnelle, d’un bled perdu et inconnu. 

Ruth, une femme de destinée dans la Bible dont le passé n’avait rien pour l’avantager a changé le cours de sa vie. Elle est née et a grandi à Moab. La nation moabite ne représentait pas le choix numéro un qu’aurait fait une femme de destinée si elle avait pu choisir. En effet, les Moabites tiraient leur origine de la relation incestueuse entre les filles de Lot et leur père. Cette relation donnait naissance à deux garçons, nommés Moab et Ben-Ammi qui étaient les ancêtres des Moabites et des Ammonites, deux nations qui représentaient un cauchemar pour Israël en leur faisant la guerre.

Les Moabites (le passé de Ruth) étaient des idolâtres qui sacrifiaient des bébés à leur dieu Chemosh (2 Rois 3 : 26-27). Ruth, en dépit d’un passé compliqué, devenait une jeune veuve. À l’époque de l’Ancien-Testament, être veuve n’était pas synonyme d’un futur glorieux, mais plutôt d’une vie de pauvreté et de misère. Toutefois, cette femme de destinée faisait de bons choix :

Que l’Éternel me traite dans toute sa rigueur, si autre chose que la mort vient à me séparer de toi! Naomi la voyant décidée (résolue, déterminée) à aller avec elle cessa ses instances. Elles firent ensemble le voyage jusqu’à Bethléem. »
Ruth 1 : 16-19

Au lieu d’avoir épousé le premier venu pour assurer sa sécurité financière et combler son vide du moment, Ruth choisissait de se connecter à une femme extraordinaire en la personne de Naomi, sa belle-mère. Elle décidait de suivre le Dieu de Naomi au lieu des idoles de son passé et de ses ancêtres. Elle fonçait vers un nouveau destin même si elle savait qu’elle avait très peu de chances d’épouser un Hébreu. En outre, elle renonçait à sa nationalité. Elle était consciente de la probabilité de ne pas avoir d’enfants, ce qui était terrible pour une femme de son époque. Elle coupait les liens avec son arrière-plan sans avenir pour se lancer vers le nouveau et l’inconnu. Ensuite, un tournant prenait place dans sa vie grâce à ses décisions, lesquelles la transportaient vers une nouvelle géographie : un nouveau scénario qui n’avait plus rien à voir avec les blessures de son passé s’évrivait. 

Il est ainsi possible, en prenant de bonnes décisions, d’enrayer le joug de notre passé et d’ouvrir la voie à un avenir merveilleux, soit la destinée que Dieu a pour nous.

Sa vie démontre, en effet, la puissance de nos choix d’aujourd’hui. Ruth est rachetée par Boaz, un homme de distinction qu’elle n’aurait jamais pu imaginer rencontrer et qui en plus devient son époux. Ceci lui permet en étant d’origine païenne d’être intégrée à la lignée de Jésus Christ puisqu’elle est l’arrière-grand-mère du roi David. À l’exception de la femme du proverbe 31, c’est la seule dont il est dit qu’elle est vertueuse. 

« Maintenant, ma fille, ne crains point; je ferai pour toi tout ce que tu diras; car toute la porte de mon peuple sait que tu es une femme vertueuse. »
Ruth 3.11

Les méandres tragiques de sa vie, son passé triste et éprouvant n’ont pu empêcher la trajectoire de sa destinée merveilleuse. Elle a pris des décisions qui ont enrayé la malédiction du passé et ouvert la bénédiction du futur. En écrivant ce texte avec beaucoup d’émotions, je peux m’imaginer aux côtés de Ruth lors d’une soirée sombre de sa vie, lorsque que tout semble sans espoir. Alors qu’elle est veuve, pauvre, sans avenir, je m’imagine à ses côtés lui dire : Ruth, ne t’en fais pas car demain sera meilleur. Quel moment ça aurait été, c’est certain ! Et aujourd’hui, je suis avec toi et j’aimerais te le dire de tout mon cœur : demain sera meilleur.

Tu peux toi aussi regarder en avant et ne pas laisser le passé empêcher ce que Dieu veut manifester dans ton futur. Ton passé ne définit pas ton avenir. Peu importe d’où tu viens ou ce qui t’est arrivé, tu peux aujourd’hui choisir un nouveau chemin qui te conduira vers un meilleur lendemain. Dieu est capable de renverser la tristesse en joie. Il peut reconstruire, redessiner, recommencer et t’amener dans une dimension de vie que tu n’aurais jamais pu imaginer. Devenons, nous aussi, des « Ruth », des hommes et femmes de destinée qui n’ont pas peur de se lancer vers les plans merveilleux de Dieu.
