As-tu déjà hésité avant de publier une photo sur les réseaux sociaux en te demandant ce que les autres en penseront ? As-tu déjà refusé de sortir de ta maison parce que tes cheveux ne te plaisaient pas ou parce qu’un bouton sur ton visage était apparu pendant la nuit ? As-tu déjà été dans un endroit public et avoir l’impression que tout le monde regardait cette tache de ketchup sur ton pantalon blanc ? T’es-tu déjà empêché de poursuivre un projet, une idée, un rêve à cause de ce que certains pourraient penser ?
Le regard des autres peut réellement paralyser et contaminer notre vie et nous empêcher d’être heureux en étant nous-mêmes et en faisant ce qui brûle dans nos cœurs.
Je me souviens, au début de mon ministère, l’intimidation que je pouvais ressentir avant de prêcher ou de chanter selon l’auditoire. Je n’osais plus prêcher certaines choses, chanter certains chants simplement parce que telle ou telle personne était là. Laisser le regard des autres dominer sur notre vie pollue énormément la qualité de notre existence et peut même nous faire passer à côté de notre destinée.
Voici alors 3 éléments qui t’aideront à te libérer du regard des autres.
1. SOIS COMME UN ENFANT
« C’est pourquoi quiconque se rendra humble comme ce petit enfant sera le plus grand dans le royaume des cieux. »
Matthieu 18:4
As-tu déjà remarqué la facilité qu’un enfant va avoir à connecter avec d’autres enfants. Un jour, j’ai amené la petite fille de mes amis à une fête d’enfants. Elle ne connaissait personne. Pourtant, une fois arrivée, elle s’est tout de suite précipitée dans les jeux comme si elle connaissait tout le monde depuis des années. J’étais impressionné. Elle ne se souciait pas de ce que les autres allaient penser de sa robe ou de ses chaussures.
Paul nous exhorte à nous préoccuper davantage de ce que Dieu pense de nous plutôt que de ce que les hommes pensent de nous.
2. PENSE À TA PROPRE FAÇON DE VOIR LES AUTRES
Rappelle-toi la dernière fois que tu as vu quelqu’un ou émis une opinion sur une personne. Combien de temps et d’énergie as-tu dépensés à juger ou critiquer la photographie d’une personne sur Instagram ou la couleur du manteau d’un individu au centre commercial ? Combien de temps as-tu pensé à ton collègue de travail qui a acheté une voiture que tu n’aurais jamais achetée ? Combien de temps as-tu passé à réfléchir à ton désaccord ou à critiquer son choix ?
La vérité, c’est que nous nous moquons la plupart du temps de ce que les autres font, puisque nous avons tellement de soucis et de défis nous-mêmes à relever.
J’entendais récemment un homme narrer une partie de son enfance : alors qu’il était à la caisse du supermarché, son père commençait à jouer de l’harmonica. Tout le monde se retournait pour le regarder. Il demandait à son père : « Pourquoi fais-tu ça ? J’ai honte. » Son père lui répondait : « mon fils, quand tu grandiras, tu apprendras rapidement que les gens se moquent de ce que nous faisons. » Il avait raison.
En effet, les gens ne se soucient pas de la tache de ketchup sur ton pantalon, sur l’état de tes cheveux, sur le kilo supplémentaire que tu as pris pendant l’hiver. Ils se soucient d’eux-mêmes. Et ceux qui remarquent quelque chose n’y pensent plus deux minutes après. Par conséquent, ne laisse jamais Jean-Pierrew485712 sur Facebook définir ta vie et limiter ton bonheur.
3. SOUCIS-TOI EN PREMIER DU REGARD DE DIEU

Paul nous exhorte à nous préoccuper davantage de ce que Dieu pense de nous plutôt que de ce que les hommes pensent de nous. J’ai des amis qui prêchent l’Évangile dans les métros et les lieux publics. Ce sont de vrais évangélistes. Ils ont tellement ce désir de plaire et d’obéir à Dieu, qu’ils passent au-dessus des commentaires moqueurs des hommes.
L’un d’entre eux me disait : « Luc, si vingt personnes se moquent de moi pendant que je prêche dans le métro et qu’une seule personne est touchée, ceux qui se sont moqués ne penseront plus à moi dans 5 minutes, alors que la vie de cette personne peut être transformée. » Quelle belle morale sur le regard des autres ! Ce qui compte en fait, c’est plaire prioritairement et uniquement à Dieu !
Ne t’empêche pas d’accomplir les plans divins et ta destinée même si cela déplait et déçoit ton entourage. Ne laisse jamais le regard des autres te dicter ton avenir. Je pense que le vrai bonheur, c’est d’arriver à vivre une vie où le regard des autres n’a plus d’influence ni d’incidence sur nos choix et la direction de nos vies.
